Lawyer Danstan Omari has revealed that an autopsy conducted on the body of Lucy Wambui showed differing results.
Wambui died after reportedly undergoing cosmetic surgery at Omnicare Medical, which operates the Body by Design cosmetic clinic.
“The postmortem was conducted, in attendance, was the chief government pathologist, the family’s pathologist and Body by Design private pathologist,” he said.
“They did not agree on the cause of death. We have given a sample of the pathology report to the public.”
He also revealed that more tests and investigations need to be done on three critical questions.
Lawyer Denies Involved of Clinic to Death of Lucy Wambui
The lawyer denied allegations that the deceased died during a cosmetic procedure at the hospital’s facility and instead argued that the patient passed away at Nairobi Hospital.
Omari added that Lucy Wambui spent two days at Body by Design and four days at a Nairobi Hospital before her death.
“She was supposed to be discharged on date 17 but on her own volition she asked for extra days at the facility, so she was given the extra day at the facility until when the day she was discharged when her condition deteriorated, she came back to the facility, but it was closed, it closes at 4:00pm,” the lawyer said.

Adding to the already puzzling controversies, an autopsy report showed that Wambui developed chest pains and difficulties breathing on the second day after the abdominal fat liposuction procedure.
The autopsy ascertained there were signs of liposuction, and that the cause of death was determined to be cardiorespiratory failure.
Family Statement on death of Wambui
The family in a statement issued earlier said that Lucy had her surgery done at Body by Design (Omnicare Medical) by a doctor who has been confirmed not to be a Plastic Surgeon.

It added that her intestines were perforated, and that stool leaked into the tummy causing very bad infection that led to her death.
“She was in pain and was discharged home from Body by Design on 22nd but the pain became unbearable the same day and she went back only to find no doctor and was then rushed to Nairobi Hospital,” the family statement read in part.
“Her condition was so bad she went for surgery to try and clean the tummy and remove the stool in the tummy where they found the intestines were perforated 5 times. She ended up in ICU and died 4 days later. Her postmortem has confirmed this, and justice will be served.”

However, Omari alleged that perforation of small intestines, which is like a hole in the intestine and can be caused by many conditions including ulcers.
“They have found out that the cause of death ifs perforation of small intestines, perforations is like a whole in the intestine. Perforations can be occasioned by more than 10 cases. It can out of ulcers, H Pylori or intrusion by object into the intestines, diabetes,” he said.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC) on Thursday October 31 ordered the immediate closure of Omnicare Medical, due to serious health and safety violations under CAP 253 of the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Act.
