Baringo County residents registered under the Social Health Authority (SHA) can access healthcare services from facilities licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
According to the current SHA registry, Level 4 hospitals represent the highest level of accredited healthcare available in Baringo County.
The county has public and private health facilities across different levels of care, including hospitals, medical centers, nursing homes, and clinics.

The SHA registry lists Baringo County Referral Hospital and Eldama Ravine Sub-County Hospital as Level 4 public county hospitals.
Level 4 private hospitals approved under the SHA framework include Eldama Ravine Nursing Home, Willgrace Hospital, Kabarnet Cottage Hospital Limited, Tionycare Hospital Limited, Ravine Specialists Hospital Limited, and Ravine Glory Hospital Limited-Mogotio Town.

Baringo County Level 2 Clinics
The county has several Level 2 medical clinics and other lower-level healthcare providers listed in the SHA registry.

SHA Registration in Baringo County
Baringo has continued to increase the number of residents registered under SHA, although registration remains below the county’s target.
In May 2025, 191,481 people had registered for SHA in Baringo, representing 28.7 percent of the county’s target of 666,763 people.
By May 2026, the county’s SHA registration rate had risen to 53.1 percent, according to a report by SHA officials that ranked the county 24th nationally.
“SHA registration in Baringo County currently stands at 53.1 percent, placing the county 24th nationally. While Elgeyo Marakwet County has a rate of 71.7 percent,” a County SHA official in Baringo County stated during a County Service Delivery Committee meeting.
At Chemolingot Sub-County Hospital, construction began in 2026 on a KSh30 million oxygen plant, with another plant planned for Kabartonjo Sub-County Hospital.
Despite the investments and SHA financing, the county still faces challenges linked to delayed reimbursements. As of March 31, 2026, Baringo had KSh98.3 million in pending SHA-related health claims, according to data from the Controller of Budget.
