Siaya County residents registered under the Social Health Authority (SHA) can access services in health facilities licensed by the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
According to the current SHA registry, Level 4 hospitals represent the highest level of accredited healthcare available in the county.
Of the 175 facilities in Siaya County, 163 are registered and approved to provide services under the Social Health Authority framework.
Siaya Governor James Orengo has emphasized that the program has strengthened healthcare financing in the county.
“Under SHA, total claims raised so far are KSh 281 million, and the amount paid is KSh 180 million in Siaya County. Only KSh 101 million remains pending. So, SHA is a good story, I must say. It has also improved our own source of revenue quite significantly,” the governor said.
Further, Orengo noted that out of a population of about 900,000 to a million, more the 335,000 people have registered under the framework.
The SHA registry lists Ambira Sub-County Hospital as the county’s approved public facility under the Level 3B category.
SHA -Accredited Private Hospitals
Level 4 hospitals approved under the health framework include Sagam Community Hospital, Bama Hospital LLP, Siaya Medical Center, Queenteric Kapiyo Community Nursing Hospital, Matibabu Foundation Hospital Ukwala, Homeground Medical Center, Haven Hospital Bondo, Africa Inuka Hospital Ltd-Madeya, Queenteric Annex Hospital, and Acela Medical Center Limited.

Level 3 SHA-Approved Medical Centers and Nursing Homes
Siaya County also has a broad network of Level 3 facilities providing maternity services, diagnostics, treatment of chronic illnesses, rehabilitation services, and general healthcare under the SHA framework.
Approved Level 3A medical centers include Owens Maternity & Nursing Home Limited, Wespram Medical Center, Gedmed Medical Center & Nursing Home, Mainland Relief Hospital, Afyatele Center, Africa Inuka Hospital Ltd-Ugunja, Homepearl Medical Clinic, West Hills Community Hospital Limited, Maryrosa Healthcare Limited, Royal Victoria Hospital Yala, Ng’iya Community Hospital Limited, Afya Research Africa-Aram Ubuntu Afya Medical Center, Ujamaa Likoni Nursing Home Usenge and Equity Afia Siaya Medical Center.
The county’s approved Level 3B nursing homes and health centers include Bondo Medical Center, Matangwe Community Health & Development Program Bondo, Barchando Community Dispensary, St George’s Community Health Services, JOOUST University Health Center, World Youth International Mama Ann Odede Health Center, Pemah Nursing & Maternity Home, Olympus Medical Center Limited, Ashburn Community Nursing Home, Lloyds Grandmed Hospital and St. James Life Care Hospital Limited.
