The Ministry of Labour and Social Protection has announced job openings for qualified Kenyans willing to work in paid enumerator and supervisor casual roles.
In a notice on August 5, 2024, the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs said that it shall be recruiting casuals to carry out data collection as enumerators in Nairobi and 11 other counties.
The recruitment is set to take place in Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Bomet, Nyeri, Nakuru, Kiambu, Embu, and Kericho, among other counties.
Further, the Labour ministry noted that candidates interested in the enumerator roles need to have scored at least a C- mean grade in their Kenya Certificate of Secondary education (KCSE).
“The State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs will be recruiting casuals for twenty-one (21) days to serve as enumerators to carry out data collection in the counties of Uasin Gishu (658), Bomet (521), Nyeri (312), Nakuru (1,002), Siaya (495), Kiambu (833), Nandi (432), Nairobi (1,495), Embu (276), Busia (730), Trans Nzoia (425) and Kericho (380),” reads part of the notice.
Interested candidates should have completed their secondary education level and have a valid KCSE certificate with at least a mean grade of C- (Minus) or its equivalent.
How to Qualify as an Enumerator & Pay
In addition, candidates should be residents of the locations listed in the advert and be conversant with the local language and be computer proficient.

Exception of residency and location will be given to urban centers which are considered metropolitan, according to the Labour ministry.
Successful candidates will be paid daily wages of Ksh1,000 per day based on daily targets as will be outlined in the appointment letter payable at the end of twenty-one days.
On the other hand, transport allowance shall be paid at the rate of Ksh500 per day to facilitate data collection with an extra provision of airtime.
Supervisor Jobs
At the same time, the Ministry of Labour announced the recruitment of interested candidates to assume supervisor roles in the same counties.
The Ministry listed the number of supervisors set to be employed and revealed that successful candidates are set to earn Ksh1,300.
“The State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs will be recruiting casuals for twenty one (21) days to serve as enumerators to carry out data collection in the counties of Uasin Gishu (66), Bomet (53), Nyeri (32), Nakuru (101), Siaya (50), Kiambu (84), Nandi (44), Nairobi (150), Embu (28), Busia (73), Trans Nzoia (43) and Kericho (38),” read part of the notice.
Qualifications
Interested candidates should have completed secondary education level and have a valid KCSE certificate with at least a mean grade of C Plain or its equivalent.
Also, a candidate must be a resident of the location and conversant with the local language and should be computer proficient.

Exception of residency and location will be given to urban centers which are considered metropolitan.
Candidates who are Community Health Volunteers and have held positions of leadership will have an added advantage.
For the supervisory roles, successful candidates shall be paid daily wages of Ksh1,300 per day based on daily targets as will be outlined in the appointment letter payable at the end of twenty-one days
Transport allowance is also applicable with the supervisors set to be paid at the rate of Ksh1,000 per day to facilitate data collection with a guaranteed provision of airtime.

Interested and qualified persons for both supervisor and enumerator jobs are requested to make their applications online through the link provided at the state department’s website.
Also, the Ministry of Labour noted that hard copies shall not be accepted, with the deadline for the application set for on 26th August 2024.
“Only shortlisted candidates will be invited to appear in person before the interview/recruitment panels,” added the notice.
