The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has announced 105 job vacancies.
In an advert on Tuesday, January 30, KAA announced 75 vacancies for firefighters to be deployed in its various facilities.Â
The firefighters, according to the advert, will be handed a one-year contract and fall under job grade S3.Â
Firefighters will be charged with responsibilities including conducting fire and rescue operations, responding to aircraft emergencies, and inspecting runways for fuel spillage.Â
To qualify, interested candidates will be asked to provide a certificate in rescue and firefighting, among other academic qualifications.Â
In addition, KAA announced 30 job vacancies for the position of apron controller.Â
The job of an apron controller entails regulating the exit, entry and ground reposition of aircraft in the special areas designated for their parking, offloaded and loading cargo or passengers.
Apron controllers are charged with responsibilities including marshaling the aircraft into and out of their parking spaces and inspecting the bays where the aircraft park.
The apron controller also controls an aircraft’s ground movement in line with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and updates the airport’s database with information about movement of aircraft.Â

In addition, apron controllers are responsible for the docking and retracting the air bridges for embarking and disembarking passengers at the airport.

To qualify, interested candidates will be required to have training in Airside Safety Operations.

Besides proof of academic qualification, KAA also asks applicants to provide documents including police clearance certificate, clearance certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board and a tax compliance certificate.Â
