Hundreds of Kenyans may face potential job losses after the Registrar of Companies issued a notice indicating that 69 companies operating in the country are set for possible dissolution and removal from the official register.
In a Gazette Notice No. 7344, under Section 897(3) of the Companies Act (Cap. 486), the Registrar of Companies announced the intended strike-off of the listed companies from the Register of Companies.
According to the notice dated 5 May 2026 and signed by Deputy Registrar Hiram Gachugi, the affected companies will be removed from the register after three months unless valid reasons are provided to stop the process.
“GAZETTE NOTICE NO. 7344 THE COMPANIES ACT (Cap. 486) DISSOLUTION PURSUANT TO section 897(3) of the Companies Act, the Registrar of Companies gives notice that the names of the companies specified hereunder shall be struck off from the Register of Companies at the expiry of three (3) months from the date of this publication, and invites any person to show cause why the companies should not be struck off from the Register of Companies,” the notice read in part.
The companies operate across multiple sectors, including transport, logistics, investment, hospitality, manufacturing, energy, real estate, retail, and professional services.
