Dr. Dorcas Kiai is a prominent Kenyan leader in strategic human resources and culture transformation, whom companies fought to poach for her productivity in her role.
She is the founder and leader of Dr. Dee HR Solutions, a consulting and outsourcing firm with over 18 years of HR experience at companies across the healthcare, non-governmental organizations, government, and banking industries.
However, last year she resigned from her work and faced rejection in two successive attempts when she returned to formal employment.
“The fact that I’d worked for top employers didn’t mean I’d be picked immediately. This was a very different space,” she told the BDLife.
To ease the sting of the rejection, she decided that a change of scenery was ideal and traveled to New York, US, to visit a friend.
Early Life and Educational Background
Information about her early life and education is not publicly available; however, she began her education and started teaching business studies at a college in Nairobi.

She holds a Doctorate of Business Administration (DBA) in Strategic Management from the United States International University – Africa (USIU-Africa), completed between 2016 and 2019.
Her earlier academic achievements include a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resources Management from the University of Nairobi, which she pursued while working at the Korean Embassy between 2003 and 2007.
