Caroline Mutoko, famously known as the ‘Queen of Radio, is widely known for her role as a presenter, digital entrepreneur, and global brand strategist.
She was recognized as one of the first and most dominant female voices in Kenya’s competitive morning drive-time slot.
Her commitment to social issues and justice led to her arrest in 2008, along with 52 other Kenyans, for protesting against high food prices.
Early Life and Educational Background
Mutoko was born on January 4, 1973, to Chris and Rose Mutoko in Kenya. Caroline grew up in the civil servant flats for the Kenya Railways near Valley Road, Nairobi.

She spent twelve years at Loreto Convent Valley Road from Standard One to Four.
“I have been a Valley Road girl for 12 years, from standard one to form four,” Caroline stated during her interview with the CTA.
After completing her primary and secondary education, she joined the University of Nairobi and pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Sociology.
Mutoko also undertook advanced training from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and the IESE Business School.
In 2025, she furthered her leadership skills at Strathmore University, serving as the Class Vice President for the Owner Manager Programme.
