Popular Radio Maisha morning show host, Ally Mwayongwa “Shugaboy,” has officially announced his departure from the station after nine years on air to join politics and agriculture.
In a statement shared on Friday, Shugaboy reflected on his journey, saying he joined the station as an inexperienced young man and is leaving as a mature, financially successful individual.
“Today marks the end of my TENURE at Radio Maisha. WOOOOW, It has been a 9 year Sweet ride here. I came in Very Virgin and now leaving fully equipped. I came in as a boy, leaving as a Mature Man. I came in broke, now leaving as a Multi-Millionaire,” read part of the statement.
He also credited his time at Radio Maisha for transforming his life, revealing that over the years, he had acquired several assets, including vehicles, a piece of land, and rental houses.
Among the listed wealth are three personal cars, two 14-seater matatus, a tuk-tuk, five motorcycles, a liquor joint, two rental houses, four parcels of land, and a five-bedroom house currently under construction.
Shugaboy Exits Radio Maisha
Shugaboy appreciated his colleagues and listeners for supporting him throughout his tenure, describing the experience as both sweet and challenging but ultimately life-changing.

He added that he does not plan to join another media house unless offered a salary above KSh 700,000, non-negotiable.
”Not joining any other Media house Again Unless for a Pay Above 700k non-negotiable,” stated Shugaboy.
Shugaboy grew from hosting the evening show, “Maisha Jioni”, to the morning show “Wrong Number “alongside longtime co-host Main Man Rio.
He hosted his last show on February 27, 2026, before signing off on his exit from Radio Maisha.
Main Man Rio Announces Exit From Radio Maisha
Meanwhile, Radio Maisha presenter Main Man Rio has announced his departure from the station, marking the end of a significant chapter in his broadcasting career.
In a heartfelt farewell, Rio thanked his listeners for their support, engagement, and loyalty, describing them as family to him.
“Today is not just another day on air… It’s my last day at Radio Maisha. It’s hard to put into words what this journey has meant to me. From the first time I sat behind this microphone to today, it has been nothing but growth, lessons, laughter, pressure, prayers, and unforgettable memories,” said Main Man Rio.
Rio also expressed gratitude to his colleagues, producers, technical teams, and management at Standard Media Group for giving him the platform to grow, learn, and build his career.

While reflecting on his journey as one filled with growth, laughter, lessons, and unforgettable memories, Main Man Rio acknowledged God for sustaining him throughout.
