Mercy Masai, also known as Massima, is a prominent Kenyan social media personality, philanthropist, actor, and aspiring politician.
In May 2026, Mercy formally entered the political arena by announcing her candidacy for the Kajiado County Woman Representative position in the upcoming 2027 General Election.
According to Mercy, the youths and women in the society require empowerment through financial literacy and micro-funding.
Further, in her campaign, the aspiring women representative has called for educational equity to eradicate vices in the country, adding that her political interest is not about the title but rather about turning hope into development for Kajiado residents.
“Our campaign is about turning hope into actionable development for every resident of Kajiado,” Mercy Masai stated during her campaign launch.
Early Life and Family
Mercy Masai’s full name is Mercy Nashipai Legilisho, and she was born on April 7, 1998, in Loitoktok, Kajiado County.
Mercy is the second-born in a family of three and the only girl, and according to the social media personality, her family believed in female empowerment that enabled her to rise above cultural practices, including Female Genital Mutilation (FGM).
Mercy Masai Educational Background
Mercy completed both her primary and secondary education in Loitoktok before moving to Nairobi in 2017 to study Nutrition and Dietetics.
However, after two years of studying Nutrition and Dietetics, Mercy discovered that the institution offering the course was unaccredited.
She took a job at a wine and spirits shop to save money and eventually enrolled in a different institution.
Later, Mercy graduated with a degree in Counseling Psychology and HIV Management.

Career and Achievements
Mercy built a modern house for her parents, becoming the first woman in her village to achieve this milestone with KSh 80,000 compensation she had received from an accident.
Witnessing the aftermath of FGM, Mercy founded the Mercy Mission Foundation, an organization that supports rescued girls in shelters and orphaned children.
Furthermore, the foundation provides essential items, including stationery, school uniforms, and sanitary towels, to those in need.
Unlike many NGOs that seek large donors, Mercy primarily funds her initiatives through social media appeals on platforms like X and Instagram, where she encourages her followers to join hands for specific causes.
In addition to being a founder of the Mercy Mission Foundation, Mercy Masai is also an author of the book The Nomadic Girl that outlines her personal journey and cultural trials in pastoralist communities.
Professionally, Mercy is an actress and fashion model and serves as the Communications Director for the Kenya Judo Federation.
As an entrepreneur, Masai has ventured into farming and selling clothes, shoes, and waist beads.

Public Image
Mercy has frequently faced criticism from social media users who question the discrepancy between her public image and her philanthropic work.
In late 2025, Mercy Masai became the subject of intense online speculation following viral posts alongside Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi.
After she shared photos on her Facebook account of herself holding her partner, members of the public pointed out that MP Oscar Sudi allegedly owned the watch.
Mercy, however, did not confirm the rumors, stating that she did not understand why the public decided that the watch belonged to the MP.
Regarding her relationship status and rumors that she was dating an MP who was endorsing her for the upcoming general election, Masai clarified that she was close with many politicians, not just Sudi.
Further, she affirmed that she was in a relationship, stating that the public opinion on her partner not declaring their love life publicly did not change anything, and she would soon post the picture of her partner.
“He is not the only politician I am close with. I do not know why you guys decided that the watch was his. But I do not know. A relationship is serious if it is the man saying it. When a man says he has a relationship, take it seriously. But if it’s the woman saying, forget it,” Mercy stated during an interview.
Mercy has maintained that her entrepreneurial ventures sustain her lifestyle in Nairobi, not any politician, as alleged.
