NAME CALEB AMISI LUYAI
AGE  37 YEARS
GENDER  MALE
OCCUPATION POLITICIAN

Caleb Amisi Luyai is a Kenyan politician and the Member of Parliament for Saboti Constituency under the ODM (Orange Democratic Movement) ticket.

Early Life & Education

Caleb Amisi Luyai was born and raised in Saboti Constituency, Trans-Nzoia County, where he experienced firsthand the challenges faced by rural communities, including limited access to quality education and economic opportunities.

Amisi began his formal education at Sabatia Primary School, completing his Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2000.

His outstanding academic performance earned him admission to Starehe Boys’ Centre, where he studied from 2001 to 2004 and sat for his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

After completing high school, Amisi pursued higher education at the University of Nairobi, enrolling in the Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) program in 2006.

He specialized in areas of commerce and finance, gaining a strong foundation in business management and economic development, and graduated in 2010 with a degree in commerce.

Career

Professional career

Caleb Amisi’s career began shortly after completing his secondary education, when he took up a position as an untrained teacher at St. Mark Vihiga Secondary School, serving between 2004 and 2006.

In 2007, he briefly worked with Standard Chartered Bank as an Assistant Manager in Supply Chain, a role that exposed him to the operational and logistical aspects of corporate banking.

Around the same period, he also participated in the Safaricom Initial Public Offering (IPO) project through City Bank.

Between 2016 and 2017, he worked as a Marketing Manager at Miss White Studio & Spa, where he was responsible for strategic marketing, client relations, and business growth initiatives.

His entrepreneurial spirit also led him to establish Mudom Investments Limited, where he served as a director.

In addition to his private sector engagements, Amisi founded the Caleb Amisi Foundation in 2017, a community-based organization dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable groups, including youth, women, and underprivileged families.

Political Career

Caleb Amisi’s political career began in 2017, when he contested the Saboti Constituency parliamentary seat under the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

At just 29 years old, he went on to win the election, becoming one of the youngest MPs in Kenya and the first in Saboti’s history to ascend to Parliament at such a young age.

During his first term in the 12th Parliament (2017–2022), Amisi served on the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations, where he contributed to discussions on national security, foreign policy, and defense matters.

In 2020, he was reassigned to the Departmental Committee on Labour and Social Welfare, where he focused on policies addressing employment, social protection, and the welfare of vulnerable groups.

In the 2022 General Election, Amisi sought re-election, once again flying the ODM flag under the Azimio la Umoja coalition.

He won decisively with 25,469 votes, defeating his closest rival from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) by a significant margin.

This victory was historic, as it made him the first MP in Saboti Constituency’s history to secure a second consecutive term.

Since returning to Parliament in the 13th Parliament (2022–2027), Amisi has continued to serve as a vocal opposition leader, often using his platform to advocate for good governance and accountability.

He has been unafraid to challenge the government on critical issues, positioning himself as an independent thinker within Kenya’s political landscape.

Notably, in 2025, he publicly declared that he had never met or shaken hands with President William Ruto, symbolizing his political independence and commitment to representing the interests of his constituents without bias or undue influence.

However, Caleb Amisi earns a gross salary of Ksh739,600 as a Member of Parliament.

This comprises a Basic Salary of Ksh443,760, a House Allowance of Ksh150,000, and a Salary Market Adjustment of Ksh145,840.

Additionally, he receives Ksh7,500 per parliamentary sitting, up to a monthly maximum of Ksh120,000.
