Gideon Kimaiyo is a Kenyan politician and the current Member of Parliament for Keiyo South on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket.
Educational Background
Gideon Kimaiyo began his schooling at Kiptulos Primary School, later joining Tambach High School before transferring to Kiptulos Day Secondary School due to financial constraints.
He completed the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) from 1993 to 2000 with a B plain and the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) from 2001 to 2004 with a B plain.
In 2006, he joined Kenya Utalii College for a Diploma in Travel Operations, complemented by an International Air Transport Association (IATA) Diploma in Air Fares and Ticketing.
From 2011 to 2014, he pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Tourism Management at Moi University.
He advanced his studies with three master’s degrees:
- Master of Business Administration in Strategic Management from the University of Nairobi (2015–2017).
- Master of Arts in International Relations from United States International University (2015–2017).
- Master’s in Tourism Management from Moi University (2018–2023).
In 2018, Kimaiyo enrolled for a PhD in Diplomacy and International Relations at the University of Nairobi, graduating in September 2024.
Career
Professional Service
In 2008, Gideon Kimaiyo started his professional career as a Travel Consultant with BCD Travel and Charleston Travel, a position he held till 2010.
He later joined Kenya Airways in 2010 as a Sales and Ticketing Executive, serving until 2014, before moving to Qatar Airways in Doha as Manager of Sales and Ticketing until 2016.
In 2018, he transitioned into academia as a Lecturer in Political Science at Multimedia University, a position he held until his election to Parliament in 2022.
Political career
Gideon Kimaiyo entered politics in 2022, contesting the Keiyo South Constituency seat on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket under the Kenya Kwanza coalition and successfully winning it.
In his tenure, he has introduced a free day secondary school programme for Form One students in his constituency, provided free lunches for national exam candidates, and offered cash rewards for top-performing pupils.
Kimaiyo has been vocal about the 100% secondary school transition policy, warning parents of legal action for non-compliance.
He has supported the development of sports facilities, including the proposal for a stadium to honour the late Kelvin Kiptum.
