The government of Tanzania has dismissed claims circulating on social media that Kenyan fans have bought out all available tickets for the much-anticipated CHAN quarter-final clash between Tanzania and Morocco.
The match is set for Friday at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
While speaking to the press on Thursday, August 21, government spokesperson Gerson Musigwa reassured Tanzanian supporters that there are sufficient tickets and stadium space.
Further, he asked them not to be swayed by what he termed as intimidation tactics from Kenyans online.
“You know those people. The match taking place tomorrow does not even concern them, yet they have started trash-talking,” Musigwa said.

Tanzania on protecting Fans and Players
Additionally, he said that the government of Tanzania had put in place proper measures to ensure the safety of fans and players.
“I want to assure Tanzanians, the reports that Kenyans have bought tickets for all the seats at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium are not true. Please come to the stadium and enjoy the game.
“The government has taken all necessary measures to ensure that everything goes smoothly.
According to Musigwa, Kenyans have started the banter because they are scared of the Tanzanian national team.
“There are enough spaces at the stadium, and they are making a lot of noise because they are scared of us,” he added.
Kenya is set to face Madagascar on Friday at Kasarani Stadium from 3PM, while Tanzania will square off against two-time champions Morocco at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium at 8PM EAT.
Morocco, which finished second behind Kenya in Group A, presents a tough test for the Taifa Stars, raising the stakes for the regional rivalry.

Kenyan Banter on Tanzania Vs Morocco
Earlier, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen joined in the banter, asking Kenyans to attend the match and support Morocco.
“I congratulate all Kenyans who have bought Tanzanian tickets,” Murkomen said on Wednesday, August 20, during a fund drive for Kenyan Premier League newbies APS Bomet in Nairobi.
Please make sure you travel and go and support Morocco at Benjamin Mkapa. I like the banter between us, Uganda, and Tanzania, but if they are going to make fun of us the way they have done, I’ll be very happy if it is Kenya versus Tanzania in the finals in Nairobi.
