The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has carried out a fresh round of senior management deployments affecting regional, county, and sub-county offices across the country.
The changes affect officers serving in Nairobi, Meru, Murang’a, Bomet, Kericho, Siaya, Tharaka Nithi and Kajiado, with other directors transferred between field offices and the commission’s headquarters.
The latest deployments involve some of the commission’s most experienced education administrators, many of whom have served in different counties and regions before being assigned new responsibilities.
Changes at Nairobi Regional Office and Headquarters
Among the changes is the appointment of Regina Opondo as Nairobi Regional Director. Opondo moves from Meru, where she has been serving as County Director, to head TSC’s Nairobi regional office, replacing Dr. Samwel Marigat.
Marigat has been redeployed to TSC headquarters as Acting Director of Staffing following the elevation of former staffing director Antonina Lentoijoni to the position of commissioner.

The staffing directorate is one of the commission’s critical departments, given its role in managing teacher establishment, deployment, recruitment processes, transfers and workforce planning.
At the county level, Mary Kinyajui has been transferred from Murang’a to take over as Meru County Director following Opondo’s departure.
Mary Kola, who has been serving as Deputy Director in the Discipline Division, has been deployed to Murang’a as County Director.
County Directors Moved in Wider Reorganization
The latest restructuring also affects several county directors across the country.
Daniel Kioko, who has been serving as Bomet County Director, has been recalled to TSC headquarters, where he will work as Deputy Director in the Discipline Division. Kioko previously served within the discipline department before taking up county assignments.
In another change, Emmy Kiget has been moved from Tharaka Nithi to Kericho, taking over leadership responsibilities in the county.
At the same time, Faith Karimi, who has been serving as Sub-County Director for Starehe, has been deployed to Tharaka Nithi. Her appointment is part of changes aimed at strengthening management capacity in field offices.
Further changes have been made in western Kenya, where Caroline Nandi has been transferred from Kericho to Siaya as County Director. She takes over leadership in Siaya after a period when the office was under acting leadership.

Sub-county Changes and Succession Planning
The reshuffle has also affected acting positions and sub-county leadership offices.
Solomon Buyela, who had been serving as Acting County Director in Siaya, has been redeployed to Bomet in the same acting capacity. The move fills the vacancy created by Kioko’s return to headquarters.
At the sub-county level, Jackson Mutai has been transferred from Nairobi to Kajiado as Sub-County Director.
Sub-county directors play a key role in implementing TSC policies at the grassroots level, overseeing teacher management, institutional compliance, school support services and education administration within their jurisdictions.
The new deployments form part of TSC’s periodic administrative reorganization, which involves rotating officers between headquarters and field stations to address staffing needs.
Under Article 237 of the Constitution of Kenya, TSC has the role of registering, recruiting, employing, assigning, promoting, transferring, disciplining, and terminating the employment of teachers.
