Rose Gakuo is a Kenyan journalist, former TV news anchor, and communications professional with experience in both media and government public relations.
Gakuo hails from the Kikuyu community in Kenya, and was born on June 26, 1992, making her 33 years old as of 2026.
She is currently affiliated with the office of the Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, where she serves in MC roles at official and public engagements.
Educational Background Of Rose Gakuo
Rose Gakuo attended Laikipia University, where she pursued a degree in Communication and Media and graduated in 2015 with First-Class Honors.
During her time at the university, she was actively involved in student leadership and campus governance activities, building an early profile in student politics.
In 2013, she made history by being among the first women leaders to be elected president of a public university students’ union in the history of public universities in Kenya.
Gakuo’s leadership role placed her at the center of student representation and advocacy within the institution.

She also held a position within the Kenya University Students’ Organization (KUSO), an umbrella body for university student associations in the country.
In that structure, Rose Gakuo served in a leadership role alongside Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, who was then the SONU president, deputizing him during her student leadership tenure.
Career Life
After graduating from Laikipia University in 2015, Rose Gakuo entered the media industry through KTN’s “The Presenter” competition, marking her transition into professional broadcasting.
She later secured a role at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), where she worked as a reporter and news anchor, gaining experience in television journalism and field reporting.
At KBC, she covered a range of news assignments and developed her on-air presentation skills, which contributed to her growing profile in the media sector.
In 2019, Rose Gakuo moved to K24 TV under Mediamax Network, where she served as a primetime news anchor, handling high-profile news bulletins.

Her tenure at K24 TV ended in 2020 following staff restructuring that affected several journalists across the station.
In November 2020, she joined the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) as Head of Public Relations and Stakeholder Engagement, overseeing communications and public relations.
She served in that role until around September 2022, when Nairobi County functions were fully reinstated under the county government administration.
As of 2026, Rose Gakuo currently works as an MC for former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua at official engagements.
