Musa Kihara, a 5-year-old boy, has attracted widespread attention through his viral “Kwa Mbae” videos on TikTok.
What started as a simple way of giving directions has since grown into a popular online phrase that has drawn massive public interest across social media platforms.
On TikTok, many users have created short clips and widely shared them, turning Musa into a recognizable online personality.
This has been embraced as part of the trending digital culture in the content creation.
The Story of the Family of Musa Kihara
However, behind the humor and growing fame of Musa lies a more personal and emotional reality.
His elder brother, 9-year-old Lewis Baraka, is currently undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital after being diagnosed with throat cancer.

Although Musa continues to engage audiences online, his family is facing the daily challenges of managing a serious medical condition that requires constant care and financial support.
According to family accounts, Lewis was transferred from Chongoria Hospital due to fears of rising hospital bills, as the family could not afford continued treatment in a private facility.
Due to the family’s financial status, the family also confirmed that Musa’s father works at the school where Musa studies, and that most of his salary is directed towards school fees, leaving limited funds for medical expenses.
“We transferred lewis to Kenyatta Hospital to avoid accumulating bills at chongoria since it’s a private hospital. The boy is admitted at the hospital with his father,” said the family representative.
Meanwhile, the father is currently staying with Lewis at Kenyatta National Hospital, as patients require a guardian during admission.
How Kenyans Are Working to Support the family
Plans for a major fundraising effort are now underway to cover Lewis’s hospital bills.
According to TikToker Obidan Dela, who is mobilizing support for the family, the upcoming fundraising is scheduled for April 26, 2026.
Obidan said the initiative aims to bring together well-wishers to help ease the financial burden of Lewis’s treatment and hospital care.

The famous TikToker also highlighted that the situation has drawn sympathy from the public, with other TikTok users rallying behind the family after learning about Lewis’s condition.
He appreciated the online community for its continued efforts to share messages of support and encouragement for the family during this difficult period.
Additionally, former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has stepped in, contributing financial assistance towards Lewis’s treatment and offering support to Musa as well.
He contributed Ksh 100,000 to the mother for Lewis’ treatment and Ksh 20,000 to Musa for his needs.
