The Principal Secretary from the State Department for Shipping and Maritime Affairs, Aden Millah, has lost his mother, Mama Dhuha Omar Kathiye.
As confirmed by Garissa aspiring County Woman Representative 2027, Kiman Ugas, in a post on April 25, Mama Dhuha Omar died in Nairobi after a long illness.
“It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of MamaDhuha Omar in Nairobi after a long illness. She was a loving mother to PS Aden Millah,” she said in a statement.
In the post-mourning with the PS, she prayed for the late Mama Dhuha Omar, asking Allah (SWT) to grant her forgiveness and eternal peace, while also seeking patience, strength, and comfort for the bereaved family and loved ones during this period of loss.
Joho Mourns PS Aden Millah’s Mother
In a statement on April 26, the Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs Cabinet Secretary, Ali Hassan Joho, expressed sympathy to the PS and his family.
He described the loss as deeply saddening and extended his condolences during the period of mourning, noting the pain experienced by the bereaved family following the death of Mama Dhuha Omar Kathiye.
“In this time of great sorrow and pain, may you find solace in the promise of the hereafter, that this life is but a fleeting journey and that the soul returns to its Creator. With profound sadness and a heavy heart, I extend my deepest condolences to Principal secretary Mr. @ps_adenmillah and his entire family following the passing of their beloved mother, Mama Dhuha Omar Kathiye,” he wrote.
Joho Pens An Emotional Message
Joho opened his message with the Islamic phrase “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un”, acknowledging the passing of the Principal Secretary’s mother and expressing sorrow over the loss.

He reflected on the transient nature of life, stating that this world is a fleeting journey and that all souls ultimately return to their Creator.
Joho prayed for the late Mama Dhuha Omar, asking Allah (SWT) to grant her Jannah, envelop her in mercy, and forgive her shortcomings.
He also extended prayers for the family, asking for patience, strength, and tranquility as they navigate the period of grief and emotional loss.
“I pray that Allah (SWT), in His infinite mercy and wisdom, grants Mama Dhuha Omar Jannah, surrounds her with His mercy, and forgives her shortcomings. May He also bestow patience, strength and tranquility upon the entire family as you navigate this painful separation,” Joho mourned.
Details Of PS Aden Millah
Aden Abdi Millah is the Principal Secretary (PS) for the State Department for Shipping and Maritime Affairs under Kenya’s Ministry of Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs.
He assumed the role in April 2025 after parliamentary vetting and approval.
The PS has over 28 years of experience in public service, with a background spanning engineering, transport regulation, maritime administration, and corporate management.
Millah holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
He also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, USA.
In addition, he holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Human Resource Management from Mount Kenya University.
