Activist Booker Omole has narrated how armed men, believed to be police officers, raided his home in Syokimau and nearly abducted him.
While addressing the media on Monday, January 13, Omole claimed that his life was in danger after eight unknown persons raided his home.
“Eight men were here; that’s when I fired three shots—two shots went up, and one shot hit one of them,” Omole narrated.
Omole recounted that it started with a commotion at around 3:00 a.m., which he initially ignored. It later escalated as people broke into his house, followed by a scream.
“I heard the first commotion around 3 a.m., but I didn’t pay much attention. Less than 10 minutes later, I heard a scream, and I recognized that it was Yvonne’s voice. I went for my firearm, which was just next to my bed,” he said.
Omole narrates how his home was raided by 8 men
After hearing his relative’s scream, Booker hurried to the door and stood ready for the attackers, who had already captured his relative.
Later, the armed men pushed his relative into his bedroom before accessing the room. It was at this moment that Omole decided to open fire at the armed men.
“They were wearing police combat uniforms, the only difference being that they had red mavins, and one person was holding a torch in the left hand, trying to blind me. That happened in less than 10 seconds before I shot the first shot,” says the activist.

The eight-armed men fled the scene after Omole’s bullet struck one of them.
Following the incident, the outspoken activist reported the attack at Mlolongo Police Station.
Booker links attack to his criticism about the government
Booker alleged that the attack could have been linked to his tough stance on governance issues in the country, particularly regarding the recent wave of abductions.
“I have received terrifying phone calls telling me to stop my activism. I’ve also heard many warnings, even in general WhatsApp groups, because when we started this campaign for accountability, there were people who disagreed with what we were saying,” he narrates.
This is not the first time Omole has faced such an encounter with individuals allegedly posing as police officers.

On September 11, 2024, police allegedly raided Omole’s home just days after he was barred from traveling to Beijing, China.
Speaking to members of the press at Central Police Station in Nairobi, Booker explained that the raid occurred while he was at the police station.
