In a fresh twist, a billionaire businessman linked to President William Ruto David Langat has recorded a statement with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) regarding the arrest of political activist Morara Kebaso.
In a statement on Tuesday October 1 Businessman David Langat has distanced himself from Morara’s arrest stating that he did not lodge a complaint against the activist as indicated in a viral charge sheet.
“DL Group of Companies Limited has noted the widespread interest from the public and media regarding a Charge Sheet that is circulating online in which our Chairman, Dr. David Langat is named as the complainant,” reads part of the letter.
“On invitation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI, our chairman has recorded a statement at the DCI Headquarters this morning and reiterated that he has nothing to do with the authors or content of the subject online posts.”
The statemnt continued, “For this reason, we wish to advise that any queries regarding the matter be directed at the relevant investigating agencies.”
According to the charge sheet, Kebaso was accused of cyber harassment in post made on his X account on September 28, which has been termed as false information and intended to taint Langat’s reputation.

In the post, Kebaso wrote: “William Ruto approached DL Langat and told him he desperately needs more money for the campaign. DL Langat used his properties as security and took big loans to help his friend. Right now, DL Langat is being auctioned by banks and the person who is buying the properties is William Ruto. To make it worse William Ruto has used his power to undervalue the properties to buy them at a cheaper price. That is the kind of person we are dealing with. He has no friend.”
Morara was arrested on Monday September 30 while in his office in Kahawa Sukari and logged into a Subaru Forester KCQ 166J.
It was reported that he was arrested for allegedly defrauding Kenyans and hurling insults at President William Ruto.
Before his arrest, Morara had posted a seven-minute video on X calling for the arrest of Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sheriff Nassir.

The lawyer has been traversing different counties, exposing the alleged stalled projects and accusing government officials of diverting public funds for their own personal benefit.
Morara’s whereabouts are currently unknown, with the Busia Senator claiming on September 30 that he was being held at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters on Kiambu Road.
