Kenyan Missionary Father who served in Haiti married his long-term girlfriend in a colorful wedding which took place in Ikinu, Githunguri, Kiambu County.
Reverend Father Edwin Gathang’i Waiguru married Margaret Wanjira Githui in a colorful wedding which had a high attendance over the weekend.
On the same day of his wedding, Gathangi was ordained to advance to the level of a priest by the Bishop Patrick Mulau of Kirinyaga Catholic Charismatic Church.
Further, Father Waiguru noted that they met with Bishop Patrick in 2003 in the seminary.
“I thank my bishop for accepting that call from God to come and ordain me. I’m also grateful that God has found it worthy to use me to bring something new in the world,” Waiguru stated.

During the ceremony, the priest thanked his wife and said that God did not make mistake when he created a man and a woman.
“God did not make mistake when he created a man and a woman as he said it was not good for a man to be alone,” he added.
Further, he said he could say he lived up to his calling of priesthood.
“I am very happy. To my wife, I promise to love you always,” he said.
About the Charismatic Catholic Church
In an interview, the bishop emphasized the Charismatic Church is catholic in nature which shares the Roman Catholic beliefs but deviates from Catholic tradition in allowing its priests to marry.
“We are Catholic in nature that is we follow the rite as it is, the right of ordination, the right of marriage.
The major difference is that we allow marriage and that is why, our deacon has solemnized his marriage at the same time he has attained the sacrament of ordination to become a priest,” Bishop Patrick said.
However, he emphasized that the church does not advocate celibacy.
“We have been there ourselves, but we know celibacy is there in writing but in reality, it is not there. Priests have wives all over the world,” the bishop stated.
He urged other married priests to come out and state clearly do have families and join them in the charismatic group.

The Charismatic priests recognize the supremacy of the Pope due to what the bishop stated as apostolic succession.
Notably the father had served as a Roman Catholic priest before transitioning to the Catholic Charismatic church, a Roman Catholic splinter group.
Waiguru claims that since beginning his faith journey in 2003, he has travelled to the United States for missionary purposes, and then to Haiti for the same before returning home.
