Candidates selected for the National Youth Service (NYS) training will be required to carry items including a charcoal iron box to their various campuses.
According to calling letters seen by The Kenya Times, NYS specified that they should carry the iron box, a navy-blue tracksuit, rubber or sports shoes, and a plastic basin or bucket.
Also on the list is a metallic box (L 32 W 20 H 12) inches, padlocks, personal effects and cutlery including a cup, plate, and a spoon.
For registration and authentication, candidates will also be required to provide original and two copies of the national identity card, academic certificates, and any other testimonials.
In addition, the institution shared guidelines on how to complete the self-registration process.
All successful recruits, NYS stated, will be required to update their personal bio data on the NYS Servicemen/women portal ahead of commencement of training.
In the notice, the National Youth Service warned candidates to exercise caution while keying in the information as it is not reversible.
How to Register on the NYS Portal
To complete the registration, candidates will first open the Mozilla Firefox browser on a phone, tablet or a computer.

Upon keying in the address, the candidate will access the login page. Key in your ID number in both the ID number field and the password field and click login.
This will then lead you to a window that will ask you to input your new and official password.
The password should be less than four characters.
Upon logging in, you will access the landing page with an interface showing various features of the portal.
Scroll down to access the ‘additional information’ option and update it with your contact information.
Then proceed to upload and submit file attachments for the National ID (back and front) KCSE certificate and the calling letter.
After uploading all the required documents, proceed to add your subjects under the option labeled ‘add subjects’.
You will then be required to select a minimum of seven subjects and a maximum of eight subjects.

The profile, according to the institution, should be updated before reporting for training.
NYS under the Ministry of Public Service conducted a nationwide recruitment exercise between Monday, February 5 and Friday, February 9.
The recruitment exercise now paves way for an intense training exercise for the selected candidates at a time the government has stepped up efforts to revamp the Youth Service.
