Health Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha has appointed President William Ruto’s daughter Charlene Ruto as the Kenya Blood Ambassador.
In a letter to Charlene seen by The Kenya Times, the CS acknowledged Charlene’s valiant and consistent efforts in campaigning for blood donation, and mobilization of resources that support blood donation activities.
“The Ministry of Health recognizes and appreciates your selfless contribution to Kenya through your consistent blood donation, advocacy, educating and mobilizing your family members, community, peers and the general Kenyan citizens to engage in blood donations,” the letter signed by CS Nakhumicha reads in part.
The CS further urged Charlene to continue in her endeavors rallying the general public to donate blood and save lives.
“This letter is to appoint you as a Kenya Blood Ambassador and ask that: you continue to be a spokesperson to your friends, Kenyan Youth family, peers and Kenyan citizens and to engage and encourage people to give blood to save lives,” the CS noted.
She was also encouraged to work with other partners in blood-related events including public education and resource mobilization.
“From time to time collaborate with the Kenya Tissue and Transplant Authority or partners in blood-related events including public education and resource mobilization,” the letter further reads.

Charlene Ruto’s Advocacy Journey
For the longest time Charlene has been an avid social activist advocating for equality, the environment and youth empowerment.
She adopted the “30 Things” programs revolving around three thematic areas including Youth in Action, Youth and the Society as well as Climate Action.
The president’s daughter initiated the program as a way to commemorate her 30th birthday which she just recently celebrated.
Charlene in a post asked Kenyans to share 30 things to work on in 2024 that would add value to the country.
“Kindly comment or DM the 30 things we can work together on this year to add value to our country,” she wrote on X.

Aside from her online presence, Charlene Ruto created a website where she encourages the youth to engage in social development campaigns and initiatives.
“My educational and experiential background in communication and hospitality compounds to ensure that the young people’s brilliant and creative ideas become actionable entrepreneurship platforms and that they live a wholesome life,” reads part of Charlene’s official website.
