International Music Star Davido, represented by his legal counsel, has issued a cease-and-desist notice to Mediamax Network Company outlining five demands to be met.
This action comes in response to an article published by K24 on April 1, 2024, which falsely alleged Davido’s involvement in drug-related offenses.
The article surfaced shortly after Davido’s electrifying performance at the “Raha Fest” event in Nairobi on March 30, 2024.
It claimed that Davido had been arrested for possession of illegal drugs under the guise of April Fools’ Day, causing what the musician termed a damage to his reputation and career.
Through his legal representatives, Davido refutes these allegations, denouncing them as baseless and defamatory.

The cease-and-desist notice issued to K24 outlines five specific demands:
- Removal of Defamatory Remarks: Davido demands the immediate removal of all defamatory and disparaging statements made by K24 and its visitors regarding him.
- Cessation of Defamatory Statements: K24 is instructed to cease and desist from publishing any further defamatory statements about Davido, whether made by the outlet itself or third parties.
- Unconditional Apology: Davido seeks an unconditional apology from K24 for the harm caused by the defamatory article.
- Admission of Liability: K24 is required to admit liability for defaming Davido, after which damages will be quantified.
- Compensation for Legal Fees: Davido demands compensation for his attorney fees and costs incurred in pursuing this matter.
The legal notice further emphasizes that while Davido respects the importance of free speech and the dissemination of accurate information, the TV station’s actions have crossed the line into unlawful defamation.
Failure to comply with the demands outlined in the cease-and-desist notice within 48 hours will result in Davido pursuing all available legal avenues to seek redress for the harm caused.
“Our client’s grievances encompass various facets of your wrongful behavior detailed earlier, which have inflicted and continue to inflict harm upon him. Your actions contravene numerous laws, including but not confined to defamation, libel, and slander. Our client is resolute in pursuing all necessary legal avenues to swiftly halt this detrimental conduct,” read Davido’s legal demand notice.
Furthermore, the media company is reminded of its obligation to preserve all evidence related to this matter.
