The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has arrested three suspects in connection with the attack on the Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi in Kisumu.
DCI in a statement said Osotsi was assaulted on Wednesday, April 8, at a Java House, West End Mall in Kisumu.
The suspects, identified as Carlos Owiti alias Kalonje (24) from Nyalenda, Eric Otieno alias Dude (39) from Manyatta, and Vincent Odhiambo alias Tinga (27) from Nyalenda, are currently in police custody and are being processed for arraignment in court.
“Investigations have been intensified, with detectives actively pursuing additional suspects linked to the incident,” DCI said.

The Detectives thanked members of the public who have volunteered useful information to aid the ongoing investigations and urges continued cooperation as detectives work to bring all perpetrators to justice.

The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Mohamed Amin has termed the attack on Senator Osotsi as unfortunate and primitive.
Amin, who said it is an active case, condemned the incident, telling the National Assembly Administration and Internal Security Committee on Wednesday that the Regional Police Commander in Nyanza is under instructions to arrest those who were involved in the attack and arraign them in the shortest time possible.
According to Derick Luvega, Director of Communication at the Vihiga Senate Office, Osotsi had made a routine visit to the Acacia area to get a haircut before proceeding to Java restaurant, where he met a friend and also interacted with members of the public.
Shortly after, a group of gun-wielding individuals is said to have confronted him, questioning him over his political allegiance.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna revealed that the lawmaker was airlifted to Nairobi for medical assistance.
“The Senator is being airlifted to Nairobi as we speak. Whilst we wait for further details, I strongly condemn this attack and ask the police for immediate action on those responsible,” Sifuna posted on X.
Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo condemned the incident, noting that ‘political intolerance must be stamped out.
“This act of cowardice, Political intolerance & goonism must be condemned & stamped-out. If we don’t, 2027 might be ominous!” Amollo posted on X.
Senator Godfrey Osotsi Claims Assassination Attempt
Osotsi now claims that he was the target of an assassination attempt after being attacked by a group of goons at a local restaurant in Kisumu on Wednesday.
Speaking from his hospital bed, Osotsi described the incident as a politically instigated attack, accusing senior security officials of orchestrating the assault that left him injured.
“I saw a group of youths, about 20 of them, entering, and they did not look like they were going to harm me…because they were shouting “Senator! Senator!” Then, when they moved closer, a few of them greeted me, and then all of a sudden they started hitting me,” he said.
