Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi has been removed as Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Deputy Party Leader.
The decision was announced by National Assembly Minority Leader Junnet Mohammed during the Special Delegates Convention (CDC) on Friday, March 27.
This came after no member proposed or seconded Osotsi as the deputy party leader.
“Vihiga senator Godfrey Osotsi was brought here by the National Governing Council but he governing council to become a a deputy party but he does not have a proposer nor a seconder. We are going to drop him as a deputy party of the Orange Democratic Party,” Junnet said.
Senator Osotsi Kicked Out as ODM Deputy Party Leader
Meanwhile, Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga will remain the party leader of ODM and will have two deputy party leaders: Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Sharif and Kisii Senator Simba Arati.
The National Chairperson position will be retained by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga. Wanga stated that the decision to remove Osotsi as Deputy Party has been forwarde to the National Execitive Council for consideration.
Osotsi’s ouster comes as he has been actively leading the Linda Mwananchi faction alongside Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi South MP Babu Owino.
The lawmaker vowed to proceed with its planned “People’s National Delegates Convention” despite being locked out of the venue by police.
The Vihiga Senator urged delegates to turn-up at Ufungamano House along Mamlaka Road, dismissing any rival meetings as illegitimate.
“We, the people, shall gather for the people’s NDC at Ufungamano House this Friday, 27th March 2026. Any other NDC gathering is illegitimate,” Osotsi stated.

This development follows an ODM Joint Parliamentary Group meeting at Parliament Buildings in Nairobi on March 3, 2026, as party members grappled with internal divisions. Senators and National Assembly members met to discuss the party’s direction amid growing factionalism.
Osotsi, the only deputy party leader aligned with the dissenting faction, attended and addressed the meeting, describing it as crucial at a time of serious disagreements within the party.
He used the platform to table a raft of proposals aligned with the Linda Mwananchi faction, widely considered a rebel group within ODM.
Without mincing words, Osotsi urged the party to consider fielding a presidential candidate in the 2027 polls—an agenda strongly pushed by the Linda Mwananchi faction.
The senator criticised the 10-point agenda signed with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in March 2025, saying the rival party had shown no good faith in implementing the deal.
He reminded members that the deadline for compliance is Saturday, March 7, 2026.
“Those advocating the two-term narrative must be mindful of this commitment and ensure that our political engagements are grounded in accountability and respect for agreed principles,” he said then.

This comes after the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal ordered Senator Edwin Sifuna and ODM to attempt to resolve their dispute over his removal as Secretary-General through the party’s Internal Dispute Resolution Mechanism (IDRM).
In a ruling delivered on Thursday, the tribunal directed the senator and ODM to engage the party’s internal mechanisms in good faith before the matter can proceed further.
The tribunal also directed that, as a show of good faith, Sifuna’s removal as Secretary-General should not be filed with the Registrar of Political Parties pending the outcome of the internal dispute resolution process.
