The Directorate of Criminal Investigations – DCI on Friday, February 23, addressed reports that its officers colluded to scam a Kenyan woman in Saudi Arabia.
According to the woman, officers from the Kasarani Police Station robbed her Ksh 300,000.
DCI responded to Bon Macharia’s concerns on X, after sharing a viral video on how a lady was rouged at the hands of police.
Consequently, DCI stated that it had directed the Sub-County Criminal Investigations Officer (SCCIO/DCIO) at Kasarani to fast-track investigations into the allegations.
“We shall share the position of the matter including the action taken soon,” their statement read in part.
Allegations
Irene whose username is Glo Lyn on Facebook has been working in Saudi Arabia. She claimed to have lost Ksh 300,000.

She stated that while in Saudi Arabia, she mistakenly sent Ksh300,000 to a wrong number. Afterwards she flew back to the country to track the money.
“After noticing the money went to the wrong destination, I flew back to Kenya to follow up,” the statement read in part.
She reported the case to Kasarani Police Station and recorded a statement and got an OB number.
At the same time, the woman claimed that the officers at the station demanded Ksh20,000 to fuel the police car.
DCI Officers traced the cash
Irene stated that the officers were able to trace the recipient of the money.
However, she alleged that one of the officers handling the matter called her back requesting for an extra Ksh 3,000.
She explained that the money was to be paid to a taxi driver as the police vehicle could not get to the suspect’s location.
Unfortunately, she stated that he found out that the money was sent to another officer within the same web.
In her statement she said that the officers managed to trace the cash but shared among themselves, leaving her empty-handed.
“After arresting the suspect, they found the money intact. Instead of returning the money they shared amongst themselves,” Irene stated.
“He forwarded message of confirmation showing that he had sent Ksh22,000,” she added.

She asked Kenyans to share her posts widely to help her get help from responsible government agencies.
“Kenyans…share this post widely,” she pleaded.
Other Kenyans online notified the Independent Policing Oversite Authority (IPOA) to investigate the matter.
“IPOA KENYA send your response team to Kasarani police station, investigate this case, and ensure those behind Glo Lyn affliction are held accountable and she gets her money back!” he stated.
