The United States (US) Embassy in Nairobi has issued a stern warning to Kenyans over involvement in visa fraud, announcing lifetime bans.
Further, the embassy has announced possible criminal charges for those found guilty of misrepresentation or document forgery during the visa application process.
In a statement released Wednesday, July 23, the Embassy explained that fraud will not be tolerated and that offenders will be permanently barred from entering the United States.
“The US government interagency efforts combat fraud and will end illegal immigration. Those who commit visa fraud will be banned from the United States for life. A nation without borders is not a nation.
“We will pursue criminal charges against those who engage in visa fraud and those who bring in and harbor illegal aliens,” the statement read.

Further, the Embassy revealed that US agencies are working together to crack down on fraudulent applications.
The Embassy will scrutinize applications, including those involving fake bank statements, forged academic credentials, and fabricated employment records.
The increased scrutiny has been introduced in response to the growing number of fraudulent submissions. Those who assist in facilitating such fraud, such as agents, brokers, or sponsors, will also face legal consequences.
The U.S. Embassy is urging Kenyans to use authorized channels and submit truthful applications.

How Kenyans Can Collect Visa Documents From the Embassy
Earlier on April 7, the US Embassy in Kenya announced a change to its visa document collection process, indicating that BLS International, a global visa outsourcing service provider, would be responsible for distributing all approved visa documents.
In an email sent to a visa applicant, the Embassy confirmed the shift.
“Please be informed that from April 7, 2025, the U.S. Embassy in Kenya has changed the document delivery provider, and there is a change to the location where you will pick up your passport and any supporting documents.”
BLS International is a globally recognized partner for various embassies and governments in managing visa and consular support services.
Applicants receive an email notification once the visa is approved, sent to the address they provided when scheduling their appointment or receiving the document courier-in instructions.
