Comedian Eric Omondi has publicly criticized Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja, accusing him of failing to provide essential services to the residents of Nairobi.
Omondi’s critique featured issues he says are affecting the county, including inadequate infrastructure maintenance, ongoing healthcare workers’ strikes, and allegations of misconduct by Nairobi city council officers ‘kanjos’.
Taking to his official social media accounts, Eric Omondi directly addressed Sakaja, stating, “Nairobi is not your House Sakaja Johnson, we will impeach you. The Drainage Systems are not working, nothing is working.”
“Your Priorities are upside down; Your Officers kicked a woman in the Stomach as I watched. Brutality must stop! We will record them daily.”
Governor Sakaja’s Directive
The comedian’s criticism intensified following Governor Sakaja’s recent directive to arrest individuals who record city council officers at work.
The governor made these remarks on 1st April while speaking in Mogra Children’s home in Roysambu, where he emphasized the need for order and discouraged what he deemed obstruction of justice.

He stated, “But a few people are after clout; they want to sensationalize everything, you arrest someone, and then he destroys his properties, and then social media people come to record. Are we supposed to sing for people who break the law?”

“We want a city of order, and those people who record you, arrest them too. That is obstruction of the enforcement of justice. Have you ever seen them recording police? Let no one look down upon you.”

Furthermore, Eric Omondi labelled Governor Sakaja’s administration as the worst in Nairobi’s history.
