Comedian, Eric Omondi has called out Nairobi Governor, Johnson Sakaja after Nairobi city county enforcement officers popularly known as Kanjos were captured in a video harassing a trader in the Central Business District (CBD).
In a video shared by the comedian, the Kanjos can be seen mishandling and pushing the businesswoman to the ground on the roadside.
Eric Omondi condemned the action by the city officers as he rushed to help the woman up on her feet, further highlighting the plight of ordinary citizens struggling to make ends meet.
“Sakaja Johnson, today I caught them in the act. Soo brutal. I saw a man lift up a woman and drop them. These are our brothers and sisters struggling to make ends meet to put food on the table. Our time is coming. Please watch to the end,” the comedian captured the video.
Additionally, the video depicted a Kanjo vehicle stationed at the roadside where the officers are seen rounding up the traders into the back.

Eric Omondi Question Nairobi Kanjos
During the incident, the comedian tried to talk to the county officers to no avail as they seemingly avoided being seen on camera.
As such, the vehicle left the scene before the officer responded leaving Eric Omondi with onlookers together with two distressed women who had allegedly been mistreated by the Kanjos.

“Why are you always using force.?” Eric Omondi questioned them.
Furthermore, in the video two distressed women are seen lying on the ground while crying uncontrollably.
The frustrating incident pushed the comedian to ask governor Sakaja to intervene.
“Johnson Sakaja. This is what you are doing to our mothers. This is what you are doing to our sisters. Your time is coming. Today I caught them in the act,” Eric Omondi shared.

Similar Kanjo Incident
However, this is not the first time Kanjos are assaulting Nairobi traders.
In separate incidences, the Nairobi law enforcers were captured harassing traders, destroying their goods and leaving them helpless.
In January 2024, the Kanjos were captured in a video counting more than 30 smokies from a vendor as they threw them away. One officer did the counting while another received the product and threw them in the bin.
Additionally, the officers confiscated trolleys used by smokie vendors, disposing of some of their products.
Nairobi Governor, Johnson Sakaja issued an apology and pledged to pay affected vendors Ksh10,000 each.
