The Delegation of the European Union (EU) to Kenya has announced a public auction set to sell furniture and other items to interested bidders.
EU stated that the items including furniture, beds, mattresses, and other appliances such as fridges, and washing machines will be sold to the highest bidder.
Moreover, the viewing date has been scheduled for Saturday, September 30, 2023, from 9 am to 12 noon at the EU Delegation Offices, in Westlands, Nairobi.
Members of the public interested in viewing the furniture and items on auction will only be allowed access to the viewing room after providing an official identification document – either a national ID card or passport.
How to Bid
The EU delegation has provided an ad hoc form to be filled in by people who would like to bid for items after viewing.

Bidders should fill in the form with identification and price offered in figures and all letters.
In addition, the form which is to be filled in only with an ink pen shall be folded and included in the ‘bullet box’ only available at the viewing site for later scrutiny.
“The form once filled (no pencil filling is accepted) shall be folded and included in the ‘bullet box’ (only at the viewing site) for later scrutiny,” the advertisement reads in part.
Nonetheless, the delegation will supervise scrutiny of all submitted bids until the best bidders are identified. They will then be contacted by the administrator of the EU delegation for a conclusion of the business.
In the advert, the delegation stated that once a bid is placed on an auction item, the bidders automatically enter a legally binding contract to purchase the item from the seller if they win the bid.
“If you are the winning bidder, you will be contacted for the conclusion,” the advert further reads.
Payment Terms
Further, all winning bidders must pay the full amount of the biddable items and agree to honor the seller’s requirements regarding the method and time of payment.
Likewise, when you place a bid on an auction item, you agree to the good as it is, no return, no guarantee is issued.

Also, the delegation highlighted that all bids are final, and once you have placed and confirmed, your bid cannot be retracted.
However, if two bidders have placed the same maximum bid, both will be contacted by the Delegation services and given an opportunity to improve the offer.
As such, the final best bid will win.
Nonetheless, sellers reserve the right to add or remove items from the auction at any time without notice.
