Former Citizen News Anchor Janet Mbugua has made a comeback after taking a break from the media.
Mbugua, a celebrated TV joined has joined the Nation Media Group – NMG, owned by the Aga Khan.
The announcement was made on Friday January 24 by Simaloi Dajom, Head of Broadcasting at NMG
“I am excited to inform you that renowned media personality, Janet Mbugua has joined Nation Media Group.
Janet is highly skilled in engaging audiences on TV, Radio & Digital media. She has previously worked as a prime-time News Anchor, show host & content producer for major outlets in Kenya & South Africa. Janet is an advocate of inclusivity for women and girls and is also passionate in amplifying voices for social change,” read the statement.

An insider at NMG told The Kenya Times that Mbugua will co-host breakfast show with Eric Latiff who recently left Standard Group.
Latiff resigned from SG, where he hosted The Situation Room on Spice FM.
Janet makes a media comeback after staying away from the industry for quite some time.

Before taking a break, Janet was working at Citizen TV as a news anchor.
Mbugua left Citizen TV in April 2017 after working at the station for six years. She decided to step down from her role to spend more time with her family, particularly her young son.
Mbugua media career
After leaving Citizen TV Mbugua has been involved in several projects including running a foundation known as Inua Dada Foundation which champions for menstrual health management for girls.
She has also been engaging in media consultancy services in JM Media Avenue a company which she founded in December 2020.
Before her media break, Janet worked for notable media companies in Kenya and abroad.

Before joining Citizen TV, Janet served as a news anchor and producer at e.tv, a media station based in South Africa, from January 2009 to July 2011.
She also worked as a news anchor at KTN before joining the South Africa media station.
Janet Mbugua holds a Bachelors degree in Mass Communication from Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Malaysia.
Additionally, she holds an MBA in Global Business Management from the Swiss Management in Nairobi.
