Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s Deputy Director of Public Communications has landed a new job.
Martha Wanjiru Miano has been appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Micro and Small Enterprise Authority.
In a notice dated January 31, 2025, Miano was appointed to serve on the board for three years effective immediately. She comes in to replace Adan Sheikh Abdillahi.
Job to last for three years
“In the exercise of powers confirmed by the Micro and Small Enterprises Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMES) Development appoints Martha Wanjiru Miano as a member of the Board of Directors of the Micro and Small Authority for three years,” read the notice in part.

Taking to her Facebook page, Miano thanked President Ruto for the appointment stating that she will serve with diligence in her new role.
“I am honored and indeed very grateful to President William Ruto for giving me another opportunity to serve as a member Board of Directors Micro and Small Enterprise Authority,” stated Miano.

“I look forward to diligently serving my fellow Kenyans in the said capacity under the leadership of CS Oparanya for the betterment of Mama Mboga, small business holders, and all Kenyans in general,” added Miano.
Martha was dismissed on October 20, 2024, for allegedly being incompetent. She was dismissed together with Gachagua’s former Personal Assistant Francis Ngotho Maina.

In response, Miano stated that she had received her letter of dismissal online as opposed to being sent to her directly.
“It’s unfortunate that my termination letter had to pass through social media to get to me. As of now, I have not seen or received the letter. But It’s okay. I think that’s how life is,” stated Miano.

She expressed that she took pride in her work while serving as the former Deputy President.
“I walk head high without shame or regrets. I know I did my best. My heart is full, and my conscience is clear. To my former boss under the Presidency, President William Ruto, thank you very much.
I believe you have a great vision for this country, and you mean well to all of us. Even without the job, I remain your number one supporter, and I will forever be grateful,” she stated.
