The family of the late Margaret Mbitu, a Kenyan nurse who was found dead at Logan Airport, Boston in the US has urged authorities to expedite investigations into the suspected murder case.
Speaking to Citizen TV, Ann Mbitu- the deceased’s sister expressed the family’s shock and grief by the gruesome attack meted on their sister.
She urged any person with information as to the whereabouts of Kevin Kang’ethe, a Kenyan man named as the prime suspect in the case to volunteer information to authorities.
Justice for their slain sister was all she prayed for, noting that the family was yet to take over the body from US authorities.
“Anybody who has information about Kevin, especially Kenyan since he is said to be in Kenya, please contact DCI so that we can get justice for Maggie and the suspect extradited back here so he can face the consequences,” the sister stated.
Meanwhile, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed that Kenyan authorities were collaborating with the Federal Bureau of Investigations in efforts to arrest the suspect.
Back in the US, officers drawn from the FBI and the Massachusetts local police commenced investigations to ascertain Kevin Kang’the’s connection with the suspected homicide case.
US investigations amid family anxiety
According to a statement released by the Massachusetts Police, Kange’the boarded a flight to Nairobi in a move suspected to be an attempt to escape the dragnet of police officers in US.

Already, prosecutors in the State of Massachusetts have charged the forty-year-old Kenyan for the suspected homicide case.
According to a preliminary police reports, Kevin and Margret knew each hence the conclusion that the death was a case of homicide.
Detectives reported that Margaret’s body was found inside a car parked at the Logan Airport parking yard at around 6 pm- US time- on Wednesday, November 1.
In the forensic report, investigators reported that they found blood inside the said vehicle- an indication of possible stabbing.
In addition, the authorities indicated that they found stab wounds on Margaret’s body, hence the conclusion that she could have succumbed to the wounds and strangulation.

“The investigation indicates that Kangethe and Ms. Mbitu knew each other, and that the homicide was not a random act,” the authorities reported.
As investigations and efforts to extradite Kevin continue, family and friends have continued to mourn Margaret with most of them describing her as warm and caring.
Before her untimely death, Margaret worked at the Brockton Area Multi-Services – a non-profit organization in the US- as a nurse. In a statement, the organization described Margaret as a staff member “loved by everyone in the organization.
“She was warm, caring and loved by everyone she worked with, both staff and the people she cared for in our group homes,” the company stated.
