The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) has warned its citizens against traveling to parts of Kenya, advising against all travel to specified areas of the country.
In a travel advisory updated on August 31, 2026, the FCDO maintained its warning against all travel to parts of Kenya.

Why the FCDO Advises Against Travel to Kenya
The FCDO’s latest advisory reports ongoing industrial action by aviation workers affecting airport operations in Kenya.
According to the FCDO, significant flight delays and disruption have been reported at a number of airports across the country.
Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) is among the airports affected by the disruption.
“Ongoing industrial action by aviation workers is affecting airport operations in Kenya. Significant flight delays and disruption have been reported at a number of airports, including Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA),” the statement read.
The office has advised travelers going to, from, or within Kenya to check their flight status with their airline before traveling to the airport.
JKIA flight operations disrupted
The Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has confirmed that the ongoing disruption to Air Traffic Control services continues to affect flight operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
In a statement issued in Nairobi on August 31, 2026, KAA said some flights are experiencing delays and cancellations as the disruption continues.
“Kenya Airports Authority PLC (KAA) wishes to advise passengers and other airport users that the ongoing disruption to Air Traffic Control services continues to affect flight operations at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).”
Passengers and other airport users have been strongly advised to contact their respective airlines and confirm their flight status before traveling to the airport.
KAA said it is working with airlines and other aviation stakeholders to mitigate the impact of the disruption and facilitate the safe, secure and orderly operation of the airport.
The authority said the safety and security of passengers, airport users and the wider aviation community remain its highest priority.
