National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula has announced the death of former Kisumu West Member of Parliament (MP) Rev. Kenn Nyagudi. According to Wetang’ula, the former lawmaker died on the evening of Sunday, March 23, while undergoing treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital.
“I send my heartfelt sympathies to the family of former Kisumu Town West MP Rev. Kenn Nyagudi. I was privileged to have interacted with him when I was the Foreign Affairs Minister,” Wetangula said.

Nyagudi was elected in a 2004 by-election after the death of Joab Omino in January of the same year under the National Rainbow Coalition (NARC).
He served the remainder of the term but lost the 2007 election to Olago Aluoch.

“May his family be consoled and find comfort in the Lord’s arms. May his soul rest in peace,” Wetangula said.
Other Condolences
Governance and Policy Expert Joshua Nyamori mourned Nyagudi as a good man and a political opponent who was difficult to hate.

He recalled contesting against him for the Kisumu Town West Constituency seat in the 2007 General Elections
“My deepest condolences to the family of Kenn Nyagudi, former MP for Kisumu Town West. He was a good man and a political opponent who is difficult to hate. He treated his opponents in a friendly and respectful manner,” Nyamori said.
Nyamori described Nyagudi as a man who easily dined with the high and the low alike and was easy going in both companies.
He also said that former MP always had an idea that would make an economic difference.
In the 2013 elections, after the adoption of the Constitution 2010, Nyagudi contested the Kisumu Central MP seat but lost to political newcomer Ken Obura.

Kenn Nyagudi Role in ODM
He also served as the director of E-fundraising and resource mobilization for the ODM Party.
Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga appointed him to this position in 2016 as the party was preparing for the 2017 elections.
His role was to reach look for funds from Kenyans both locally and internationally to help in the campaigns.

“I have many friends in this country and beyond. I will use my influence and connections to reach out to them and explain why we need money, good money as we head to the next general election,” he said.
Nyagudi ventured into real estate and the hospitality industry after quitting politics and stayed out of the media.
Besides, he is remembered for his 2012 lawsuit against local banks over an alleged inaccurate listing of his financial transaction details.
