Nation Media Group’s (NMG) subsidiary, Monitor Publications Limited (MPL) in Uganda has a new Managing Director, Susan Nsibirwa.
In statement on December 22, 2022, Stephen Gitagama the Group Chief Executive Officer noted that Susan will report to her new role on January 2, 2024.
“I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Susan Nsibirwa as Managing Director-MPL, with effect from 2nd January 2024,” said Gitagama.
In her new role, Nsibirwa will be responsible for leading MPL, The East African, and Africa Broadcasting (U) Limited to deliver their long-term strategy, business plans, and annual performance targets.
Additionally, she will be responsible for maximizing value to shareholders.
NMG also announced that the outgoing MPL Managing Director, Tony Glencross, will be leaving the company on December 22, 2023.

“Mr. Timothy Ntale, the Company Secretary, will serve as Acting Managing Director from 23rd December 2023 until Ms. Nsibirwa assumes her new role,” the statement read in part.
Nsibirwa’s appointment is a significant one for NMG, as she is the first woman to be appointed Managing Director of MPL.

Nsibirwa is a graduate of the University of Nicosia, Cyprus with a Master of Business Administration, and Makerere University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication.
Additionally, she is a seasoned marketing and communications professional with over 25 years of experience, including 15 years in senior executive roles.
“She also has proven experience in successfully implementing strategic corporate social responsibility programs and crisis management plans.
“She brings expertise in communication, business strategy, and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders,” Gitagama’s statement read in part.
Besides, she has previously worked for Ayiva Consulting Solutions, URGE-Uganda, Vision Group, MTN Uganda, and dfcu Bank.
Susan is currently a member of the Strategy and Audit, Risk and Compliance Board Committees of Monitor Publications Limited and is the Board Chair at African Centre for Media Excellence (ACME), among other boards.
Her extensive experience and proven track record make her well-qualified to lead the company into the future.
“My most important future contribution to others is my time, resources and experiences. Conceptualizing ideas and solutions brings out the best in me,” stated Nsibirwa.

Susan Nsibirwa, started her career at Monitor Publications Ltd (MPL) in 1992 as a writer and wrote an article in the first edition of The Monitor (July 31, 1992).

However, she later left MPL to pursue other interests.
She was the Managing partner and lead consultant at Urge Uganda, a full-service marketing communications agency handling some of the biggest accounts across different sectors.
She previously served as Head of Marketing at Uganda’s leading media powerhouse, Vision Group for 8 years, managing the corporate marketing and communications functions.
Prior to joining Vision Group, Susan worked at DFCU Bank as its Head of marketing for over 3 and half years.
Nsibirwa returns to Monitor Publication Limited, under the umbrella of NMG as a multi-skilled professional.
