Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said that the government’s fight against illicit brews and drugs has born fruits due to the increased number of children in the Mt Kenya region.
The second in command was speaking at his Mathira home in Nyeri County on December 26 where he hosted hundreds of children for a Christmas treat.
“I thank that our fight as a government against illicit brews, and use of bhang and other substances has started bearing fruits,” said Gachagua.
Notably, Gachagua affirmed that the fight against these illicit brews has led to the increase in number of children which he witnessed as he drove to his rural home from Nairobi.
The Deputy President who was donning a Christmas outfit went on to add, “As I was driving, I have seen many children, I have seen others on the way, I am very encouraged.”
Gachagua on Increase in Number of Children
The Deputy President said that before the campaigns against brews kicked off, the region’s future was threatened since not many children were being born.
“Before this campaign which we have won 70 percent, a generation was threatened we couldn’t see as many children on our villages roads we will soldier on” said Rigathi.

He further went on to claim that the fight against illicit brews and drugs has been successful, a situation that was worse when they came into power.
“We were almost losing an entire generation and when we see children in great numbers, we know our future is secure,” he added.
According to the Deputy President many men in the region are now siring following the intense fight against the brews, thus securing the future of the nation.
Education Reforms
On the other hand, the DP pointed out that President William Ruto has gone out of their way to secure the future of the young generation.

This, he noted was through a streamlined Competence Based Curriculum (CBC) under the Ministry of Education.
“This generation is Kenya, that is why when we came into office the President appointed the Presidential working party on Presidential reforms to reform CBC,” he said.
Furthermore, he affirmed that CBC is a success after employment of more teachers as recommended by the presidential working party on education.
“Our government has employed 56,000 more teachers to make sure that the pupil-teacher ratio is improved,” said the DP.
