Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed deep regret over having only two sons, lamenting that if he had known better, he would have chosen to have a larger family.
Gachagua made these heartfelt sentiments during a live interview on iNooro FM‘s morning show on Friday, October 6, where he delved into the State of the Nation and the Kenya Kwanza One Year Scorecard.
Responding to concerns over a possible scrapping of small constituencies in the former central province, the DP urged constituents to consider having bigger families of up to eight children.
“I was fooled by the whites to sire only two children. At that time, we were fools because we listened to what the whites said,” the DP stated.
“They fooled us into believing that one could only manage to breed two children. Let people even sire five, six, seven, or eight children. The Lord will help them, and they will manage to breed and raise them.”
Calls for more numbers
Additionally, Gachagua issued a compelling plea to Kenyans from the Mt Kenya Region residing in suburban areas like Nairobi to return home during the upcoming census.

His reasoning was crystal clear, stating, “High numbers bring developments,” alluding to the speculation that certain constituencies in the Central Region might face elimination due to low resident counts.
Undoubtedly confident in his assertion, Gachagua emphatically confirmed that constituencies such as Tetu, Othaya, Kangema, Mathioya, and Mukurweini would remain untouched during the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission‘s border and constituency review.
He further expressed his hopes that, in the process, existing constituencies like Ruiru, Roysambu, Kieni, Thika, and Kiharu would be subdivided to give birth to ten additional constituencies.
Gachagua on the Bomas Talks
Turning his attention to the ongoing bipartisan talks in Bomas, Gachagua voiced his unwavering faith in the leadership of Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichungw’a and Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire, who were representing the Kenya Kwanza faction in the negotiations.
He clarified that while he embraced the talks, the Kenya Kwanza faction remained steadfast in refusing to entertain any handshake deal with the opposition.
“Matters related to servers and last year’s elections cannot be discussed; the elections are over, and the Supreme Court approved our victory,” he firmly stated.

Further, Gachagua highlighted the government’s success in combating illicit brews and drug abuse.
With a resolute tone, he declared, “We are currently 70% done. We are not relenting on this war.
I will engage all religious leaders, political leaders, and influential people in society to join us in this war. We shall come out triumphant.”
Gachagua further revealed that President William Ruto would be embarking on a mission to China to negotiate for additional loans to facilitate the resumption and completion of the road projects that have been temporarily halted.
