Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has called out the government for denying accusations of abductions against GenZs in the country.
Speaking during service on Sunday, January 5, Gachagua singled out the Central Organization of Trade Unions (Kenya) Secretary General Francis Atwoli for insinuating that some youths were abducting themselves.
Gachagua referenced Atwoli’s reports that some of the youths who had been reported missing were faking abduction.
“We would like to ask our leaders to respect Kenyans. We have seen some leaders saying that our young men are abducting themselves. Now bodies have been found.”
“Will you now say that our youths abducted themselves, killed themselves and threw themselves in different dump sites?” questioned Gachagua.

Gachagua on Police Remaining Silent
Further, Gachagua has asked the government to take responsibility and stop lying to Kenyans, adding that the lies told by leaders in the country were the reason he disagreed with the president.
Additionally, he has called on the police force to protect Kenyans instead of acting under the instructions of selfish politicians in the country.
His sentiments came a day after the lifeless body of John Muchiri Muthoni who was last seen by his loved ones on Friday, January 3, was discovered dumped naked by the roadside.
According to Human Rights Activist and Haki Afrika Executive Director Hussein Khalid, the 27-year-old man disappeared before his girlfriend reportedly received a call from an unknown number, directing her to find his body by the roadside.
Earlier, the body of 24-year-old activist Ibrahim Hilal Mwiti, who went missing in November last year, was found at Thika Level Five Hospital mortuary.
Mwiti was last seen in Nairobi’s city centre before he disappeared, prompting a search by his family, while his friends turned to social media platforms to help locate him.

Gachagu to take Maina Njenga to ICC
On the other hand, Gachagua has promised to push for the prosecution of the former Mungiki leader at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
He asked Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia to assemble a legal team to initiate the process of taking Njenga to the ICC over alleged criminal activities from the 1990s.
He cited crimes linked to the Mungiki gang, which was responsible for the deaths of more than 29 people during that period.
