Uasin Gishu Member of Parliament Gladys Boss Shollei has dared Nation Television (NTV) and other media houses opposing the government.
According to Shollei, NTV is selling toxic negative narratives and a story of doom and hopelessness to Kenyans, instead of highlighting the strides President William Ruto has made.
Speaking before parliament, the MP called the media station unpatriotic and problematic.
“I want to direct my attention to the unpatriotic media houses in this country, particularly NTV which attempted to wrongly analyze the state of the nation address.
“I want to ask them, has the shilling strengthened, yes or no? Has inflation dropped? every Kenyan knows that the price of petroleum, unga and electricity has gone down. Those media houses should tell us where they are getting their statistics,” she said.

“I dare them, those unpatriotic Kenyans and media houses, has fertilizer been distributed to registered farmers.
“Towards food security, they can use their investigative journalists to go to the granary and check if we have millions of bags of maize, beans and wheat in our reserves. Rather than speak from their studios, they should go and film them from the stores, ” she said.
Additionally, she dared the media house to conduct investigations on farming, the university funding model, and the new health insurance fund SHA.
“I also dare them, do they dispute the fact that today farmers are being paid Ksh50 per litre of milk, whether or not teachers have been hired?

Femicide and GBV
Shollei also lauded Ruto for addressing the femicide menace in the country, saying that parents should teach their children preventive measures.
According to the woman representative, such preventive measures are better than going after the murderers after they have committed the crime.
“Being able to prevent femicide and gender-based violence requires all of us to be vigilant.
“On femicide, we need to talk to our children not to put themselves in vulnerable situations so that we can be part of prevention rather than going after these people after they have committed the crime,” said Shollei.
