The Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) has appealed to parents, guardians, and caregivers to monitor the audio-visual content that children are watching on TV, and accessing online, or other broadcast media channels and guide them appropriately during the half-term break.
In a statement on February 27, KFCB said the directives align with its Consumer Advisory function.

“We encourage parents to set screen-time rules and limit the amount of time children spend on TV and other broadcast channels,” KFCB said.
The Board also urges content creators to be mindful of the content they post on various platforms and likely to be accessed by children and minors.

KFCB said the program will empower parents with skills on how to monitor and guide children on content access and consumption through digital platforms.
KFCB is a State Corporation established under the Films and Stage Plays Act Cap 222 of the Laws of Kenya.
It’s tasked with regulating the creation, broadcasting, possession, distribution and exhibition of film and broadcast content.
The regulation is meant to ensure that content conforms to Kenya’s culture, moral values and national aspirations as well as to protect children from exposure to inappropriate content.
