The Government of Kenya is set to offer 1 million jobs to Kenyans per year. It is set to achieve this through the export of labour program.
Through his X account, the Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki wrote that he had been briefed by the Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection Dr. Alfred Mutua on the ongoing recruitment and sensitization program. The program is meant to secure 1 million jobs for Kenyans per year.
“At the Official Residence in Karen, I received a briefing from Dr Alfred Mutua, Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection on the ongoing recruitment and sensitization program targeting to secure 1 million jobs per year through the export of labour program,” said DP Kindiki in a post.
Government to open ICT hubs in all 290 constituencies
The DP went on to say that the government is in the process of setting up ICT hubs in all 290 constituencies. The hubs, he noted, are meant to provide the youth with a platform to access digital jobs and hence transform the economy.

According to the DP, the government is investing in technical and vocational education to tackle employment among the youth in Kenya. He said that Kenyans are continuously being deployed to advance Kenya’s manufacturing agenda and the government is still negotiating for more deployment under the export of labour program.

Kenya currently holding bilateral talks with other countries
Kenyans who are professionals, as well as semi-skilled ones stand a chance to get these jobs following the bilateral labour talks that Kenya is currently holding with other countries, as per the DP. These talks will also see to a structured labour migration program.
“To ensure a structured labour migration program, Kenya is signing more bilateral labour agreements with other countries to open up opportunities for Kenyans even in semi-skilled and professional fields,” said the post in part
