HELB Opens Loan and Bursary Application Portal for Select Students

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has opened its portal for the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB) Foundation loans and bursaries.

In a statement on January 13, 2025, HELB said the Scheme will cater for KASNEB fees; registration, exam, renewal, exemption fees and tuition in KASNEB Accredited Institution.

“The KASNEB Foundation Loan and Bursary Scheme is now open, offering support for both your tuition and exam fees. With attractive interest rates and flexible repayment periods. See requirements and apply,” HELB said.

Current KASNEB students and new students interested in pursuing KASNEB qualifications are eligible for the loans and bursaries.

The qualifications currently funded are:

1.Certified Public Accountants (CPA)

2.Certified Secretaries (CS)

3.Certified Investment and Financial Analysts (CIFA)

4.Certified Credit Professionals (CCP)

5.Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD)

6.Certificate in Accounting and Management Skills (CAMS)

HELB Terms &Conditions

1.The loan attracts an interest rate of 6% per annum and is due for repayment 3 years after the date of completion of studies.

2.The maximum repayment period is 60 months, with the option of choosing a lower repayment period.

3.Administrative fee of Ksh500 charged during disbursement.

KASNEB Loan Requirements

1.Applicants should visit the HELB website www.helb.co.ke to access the HELB Students’

2.Portal to register, create and activate account (ensure you use your personal mobile number).

3.Log in, and click Loan ‘Application’ Tab, on the left dashboard.

4.From the view window, select either: KASNEB Foundation Loan and Bursary Application- Tuition fees only OR KASNEB Foundation Loan and Bursary Application – kasneb fees only.

5.Read and agree on the Consent for the Collection and Processing of Personal Data.

6.Access and fill in the loan application form online.

KASNEB Foundation offers financing to students pursuing KASNEB qualifications in the various accredited universities, colleges and other training institutions in Kenya.

Other Loans & Bursaries

HELB also offers loans for students heading to university and TVET institutions.

The loan products include undergraduate loans, TVET loans and Jielimishe loans.

Additionally, the Board awards partial scholarships to Kenyans pursuing postgraduate programs (master’s or PhD) in local public or private universities recognized by the Commission for University Education (CUE).

The scholarship award value is Ksh200,000 for master’s programs and Ksh450,000 for PhD programs, tenable for 2 years for the master’s program and 3 years for the PhD program.
