The Democratic Action Party of Kenya (DAP-K) is a registered political party in Kenya led by Eugene Wamalwa and George Natembeya.
As part of the party’s expansion and preparation for the 2027 general elections, DAP-K allows for membership registration at a fee.
To be a member of DAP-K, an individual must:
- Have attained the age of 18 years
- Be a Kenyan citizen with a valid National ID or Kenyan passport
- Be a registered voter
- Not be an active member of another political party at the time of registration
- Be willing to abide by the DAP-K Constitution, policies, and code of conduct
DAP-K Membership Registration Process
DAP-K members can be registered through three main ways, which are:
- Online registration via the party website
- Registration through the ORPP USSD system
- Manual registration through party offices

1. Online Registration Through DAP-K Website
Interested members can register online through the official DAP-K membership portal.
Steps include:
- Log in to the DAP-K website
- Fill in personal details, including full name, ID number, phone number, county, constituency, and ward
- Select a special interest group (Youth, Women, or PWD) if applicable
- Apply for verification
- Await confirmation via SMS
Once approved, the applicant’s details are entered into the official DAP-K membership register.
2. Register via USSD (ORPP System)
All political party memberships in Kenya are managed under the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP).
To join DAP-K using USSD:
- Dial *509# on your mobile phone
- Register for an ORPP PIN if you do not already have one
- Select Membership
- Choose Join a Party
- Select or enter DAP-Kenya (DAP-K)
- Provide your county, constituency, and ward details
- Confirm your information to complete registration
Once approved, DAP-K becomes your official political party of membership.
3. Manual Registration at Party Offices
Kenyans willing to join DAP can visit any branch office of the party across the country and submit their application by filling out forms.
How to Deregister from DAP-K
Members wishing to join another political party must first deregister from DAP-K.
Deregistration can be done by:
- Dialing *509#, selecting Membership, then Resign from a Party, and following the prompts
- Writing formally to DAP-K through its official party offices, requesting removal from the membership register
DAP-K Membership fees
DAP-K charges its members for registration.
- Normal Membership: One-time fee of Ksh 20
- Life Membership: One-time fee of Ksh 15,000, which grants permanent voting rights and priority access to party programs
All payments are made through party-approved official channels.

How to Vie on a DAP-K Party Ticket
DAP-K allows eligible members to contest for elective seats under its party ticket in accordance with:
- The DAP-K Constitution and nomination rules
- The Political Parties Act
- IEBC regulations
Eligibility to Vie on a DAP-K Ticket
To qualify as a DAP-K aspirant, one must:
- Be a registered DAP-K member in good standing
- Have met the minimum party membership period before nominations
- Be a registered voter in the relevant electoral area
- Meet all constitutional and IEBC requirements for the intended seat
- Not be a member of another political party
- Agree to abide by party nomination rules and dispute resolution mechanisms
DAP-K Nomination Fees
Nomination fees are set by the party during election cycles and officially communicated during nomination periods.
As of late 2025, DAP-K nomination fees were:
