How to Join UDA Party, Membership Requirements, and Charges

The United Democratic Alliance (UDA), Kenya’s ruling party, has continued to expand its membership base ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

According to UDA guidelines, any eligible Kenyan can join the party by registering through mobile phone or the official online portal, without paying any membership fee.

UDA also notes that before joining the party, one must have resigned from the former political party.

To qualify for membership, one must: 

• Be a Kenyan citizen of voting age
• Possess a valid National ID or Passport.

UDA Membership Registration Process

Kenyans seeking UDA membership can register using either a mobile phone or an internet-enabled device through the official UDA portal.

• Step One: Unblocking Promotional Codes

Dial *456*9*5*5*1#

• Step Two: Setting up an account on the ORPP platform

Dial *509*

• Select 1 for Review to agree on the terms
• Enter your First Name and Press Okay
• Select 1 for ID as your identification document and Press Okay
• Enter your ID Number
• Choose your Gender [1. For Female 2, for Male, and Press Okay
• Select 1 to confirm your details

You will receive a PIN from the ORPP platform, which you will use

Step Three: Setting up your PIN on the ORPP platform

Dial *509#

• Enter your PIN as received from the ORPP
• Select an option to set your security Question.
• Select Confirm (1) your details

If you are registered with another political party, you must resign from it first. 

Step Four: Resigning from any existing Membership

• Dial *509#
• Enter your PIN as received from the ORPP
• Select Membership (1)
• Select Resign (3) from any existing membership.
• Select Confirm (1) your details

Once you have resigned from any previous party, you can join UDA. 

Step Five: Joining the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)

• Dial *509#
• Enter your PIN as received from the ORPP.
• Select Join a Party (2) and Press Okay
• Enter the County Code and Press Okay
• Enter the Constituency Code and Press Okay
• Enter the Ward Code and Press Okay
• Enter Party Code 015 for UDA and Press Okay
• Confirm (1) Membership and Press Okay 

You will receive a message confirming that you are now a member of UDA. 

Upon registration, members are eligible to participate in party activities, grassroots mobilization, internal elections, and policy engagement forums organized by the party.

Registration to Vie for a Position

Members wishing to vie for any political position through the UDA must register on the official UDA portal and ensure they are registered as members first.

Inside the portal, one must select the level they wish to vie for, such as Ward, Constituency, or County.

Registration for aspirants involves a non-refundable fee that varies based on the level selected.

These fees vary depending on the elective position, gender, and special interest group status, such as persons with disabilities.

One must provide personal details, verify their phone number, and complete payment through the portal.

The party also states that physical registration is available at designated party offices and during official party drives, particularly in areas with limited digital access.
