The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced the top-performing counties in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.
According to an update on Friday, October 10, Nairobi, Kiambu, Mombasa, Nakuru, Kisii, Kilifi, and Machakos emerged as the leading counties in new registrations and voter transfers.
The latest report released by the Commission shows that as of October 8, 2025, a total of 20,754 new voters had been registered across the country.
Additionally, 3,207 transfers and 61 updates were recorded during the same period.
Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kiambu Lead Nationally
The report shows Nairobi City County topping the registration chart with 4,804 new voters, followed by Mombasa (1,379) and Kiambu (1,203).
Other counties showing strong registration performance include Machakos (932), Nakuru (840), Kitui (666), Kilifi (673), and Kisii (728).
Counties with moderate registration progress include Meru (421), Wajir (460), Garissa (263), Makueni (302), and Kwale (242).
“We appreciate Kenyans who have taken time to register, transfer, or update their voter details. Your participation strengthens the foundation of free, fair, and credible elections,” said the Commission in a statement.
High Transfers Recorded in Urban and Coastal Counties
In the transfer category, Nairobi recorded the highest number with 1,105 transfers, followed by Mombasa (481), Kiambu (282), and Nakuru (277). Other counties with notable transfer activity include Kilifi (153), Laikipia (114), Taita Taveta (67), Uasin Gishu (104), Nyeri (45), and Nyandarua (45).
Counties such as Kirinyaga (11), Kwale (7), and Busia (7) registered fewer transfers, while some northern counties like Mandera recorded minimal or no movement.
“The increase in transfers shows that many voters are aligning their polling stations with their current areas of residence,” noted the Commission.

“Your vote begins with registration. Your voice matters. Your future depends on it,” the Commission reiterated, urging Kenyans not to wait until the last minute to register.
Youth Urged to Take Initiative
Despite the progress, IEBC raised concerns over low turnout among first-time voters, particularly youth who recently attained voting age.
With a national target of 6.3 million new voters, the Commission has called upon all eligible citizens to visit their nearest constituency offices and register.

“We urge all eligible Kenyans, especially the youth, to take advantage of this opportunity to register and make their voices count in the 2027 General Election,” the Commission noted.
The IEBC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring credible and inclusive electoral processes, in line with Article 88 of the Constitution of Kenya (2010).
As the Continuous Voter Registration exercise progresses across all 290 constituency offices, the Commission emphasized that registration is the first and most critical step in shaping the country’s democratic future.
