A Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer in Kapsabet town, Nandi, brutally killed an Anglican reverend after the officer found him in his matrimonial bed with his wife.
Confirming the incident, Nandi police commander Dickens Njogu said that that man of the cloth was a resident of Kapsabet known as James Kemei.
According to preliminary reports, the 43-year-old Reverend visited the woman, who also served at St Barnabas church as a lay reader.
“The name of the injured person was James Kemei, who is a resident of Kapsabet town. He was assaulted by Stephen Kimerias who is believed to be a KDF officer based at Moi Barracks in Eldoret,” said the commander.

How KDF Nabbed the Reverend and Planned the Attack
The officer had been alerted of an ongoing affair between his wife and the clergyman. Therefore, he waited for the Reverend to visit and sneaked into the house.
It was reported that the soldier hid in one of the rooms and without the knowledge of his wife and the reverend.
When the two got steamy, he came out of his hiding spot and attacked the reverend. According to the police, he fractured his wife’s hand and hammered nails into the spine of the pastor.
Additionally, the officer proceeded to chop off the loins of the reverend as his wife watched. Kemei was rushed to Kapsabet Level 5 hospital where he was referred to Top Hill Hospital. He passed away there.
When the KDF officer learnt that the police had been alerted, he fled the scene and was still in hiding by the time of publication of this article.

Neighbours and Congregants Speak
Speaking to the press, members of the congregation of the Reverend’s church expressed their shock over the incident, calling out Kimei for his sins.
At the same time, a neighbor to the officer revealed that he was a good man who had never shown any signs of violence. The pastor was blamed for provoking the officer.
“That is our pastor and although we are sorry, he should not have done something like that here. We were not expecting to hear anything like this,” a resident said.
“The officer is my neighbor and he had never wronged anyone. The pastor should have stayed in church to preach to his congregation. What was he doing here? That is such a terrible behavior,” another added.
