The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced the temporary closure of Uhuru Highway at the section between University Way and Kenyatta Avenue roundabouts.
KeNHA in a notice on Saturday, March 1, said the road will be closed on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 9.00am to 10.30am.

“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) would like to inform the public of a temporary closure of Uhuru Highway (A8) at the section between University Way and Kenyatta Avenue roundabouts on the Mombasa bound carriageway on Tuesday March 4, 2025, from 9.00am to 10.30am,” read the statement in part.
According to the authority, the temporary closure will pave way for a procession to commemorate the World Engineering Day.

KeNHA Announces Temporary Closure of Uhuru Highway
KeNHA advised motorists heading towards Mombasa direction to exit the Highway at either Boulevard Hotel onto Harry Thuku Road, Moi Avenue and Kenyatta Avenue to rejoin the Highway at Kenyatta Avenue roundabout.
They can also use the University Way roundabout onto Nyerere Road, Processional Way and Kenyatta Avenue to rejoin the Highway at Kenyatta Avenue roundabout.

“KeNHA advises motorists to approach the section with caution and follow the proposed traffic management plan herein as well as cooperate with the police and traffic marshalls on site,” KeNHA said.

Traffic Disruption at Haile Selassie Roundabout and Juja-Gatundu Road
At the same time the authority stated that the Juja – Gatundu Road will be temporarily closed from Juja Stage Junction to Gatundu.
This is to allow for installation of the cross culvert as from Friday February 28, 2025, at 10.00pm to Monday March 3, 2025, at 8.00pm.
Juja – Gatundu traffic will be diverted through the diversion at Equity Afia Medical Centre (Juja) Road to join Juja – Gatundu Road and Mucatha Road through Jomo Kenyatta University Way roundabout to join Thika Superhighway as an alternative route during this period.

Earlier, KeNHA had announced a month-long traffic disruption temporary traffic disruption at Haile Selassie Roundabout on Uhuru Highway.
KeNHA, in a notice on Friday, February 28, 2025, said the traffic disruption is due to scheduled road works for the construction of a pedestrian underpass at the section.
The scheduled road works will commence from Monday, March 3, to Monday, April 7, 2025.
The construction of the pedestrian underpass, part of the Greenpark Terminus Pedestrian Underpass Network, began in 2024.
