The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a 4-year road safety programme for the Kenya-South Sudan Road Corridor and plans to upgrade 6 road sections in Meru under a separate infrastructure project.
These two projects will involve road safety audits, public awareness campaigns, road construction and the development of footbridges.
KeNHA has invited consulting firms to express interest in the road safety programme and opened bidding for the Meru road works, with submissions due in October and November 2026.
In a notice on October 13, 2026, KeNHA invited eligible consulting firms to express interest in providing road safety audit, sensitisation and management capacity-building services for the Lesseru–Kitale and Morpus–Lokichar Road Upgrading Project Phase 1.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), being the implementing agency of the Government of the Republic of Kenya, now invites eligible consulting firms to indicate their interest in providing the above services,” the notice read in part.
4-Year Road Safety Plan for Kenya-South Sudan Corridor
The consultancy will run for 48 months and cover road safety audits throughout the project. Other activities include road safety sensitisation campaigns, awareness programmes, road safety management training and capacity building for roads agencies.
KeNHA said the Government of Kenya had received financing from the African Development Bank Group towards the cost of the multinational road corridor upgrading project. Part of the financing will cover eligible payments under the road safety consultancy contract.
“This Request for Expressions of Interest follows the General Procurement Notice (GPN) for this Project that appeared on the African Development Bank Group’s Internet website on 28th February, 2025 and on the MyGov newspaper on 11th March, 2025.”
The project covers the Lesseru–Kitale and Morpus–Lokichar sections of the Kenya-South Sudan Road Corridor. The consultancy services are intended to support road safety through audits, public sensitisation and training for relevant agencies.
Interested consulting firms must submit their expressions of interest in writing and deposit them in the designated submission box at KeNHA headquarters, on the second floor of Block C, Barabara Plaza, off Airport North Road along Mazao Road in Nairobi.
