Kenya was among the African countries hosted by the United States Space Force’s Space Operations Command, Mission Delta 2, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, for a conversation that focused on how the U.S. and these nations could collaborate in sharing information about space activities.
The discussion that happened on April 10 centred on topics related to Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and Space Domain Awareness (SDA), where participants explored ways to monitor and maintain a safe space environment.
Kenya was represented by its defence space leader, while other participating countries included Angola and Nigeria.
Col. Raj Agrawal, the commander of Mission Delta 2 (the U.S. Space Force team focused on SDA), delivered a presentation highlighting the importance of tracking activities in space for global security.

He encouraged partnerships between the U.S. and countries with similar goals, and discussed training programs that could be offered to representatives from African nations. He also invited them to participate in international space exercises, such as Global Sentinel.

During the meeting, representatives from Angola, Kenya, and Nigeria each provided updates on their national space programs. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with all leaders expressing gratitude and a desire for future cooperation.
Mission Delta 2 (MD2) is a unit of the United States Space Force dedicated to Space Domain Awareness (SDA).
Its primary mission is to identify, characterise, and mitigate vulnerabilities in national security space operations.

MD2 tracks and monitors all human-made objects from low Earth orbit to geosynchronous orbit and beyond.
It also collaborates with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to provide weather satellite observations for the U.S. Armed Forces.

The unit has a rich history dating back to World War II, initially established as the 21st Bombardment Group. Over the years, it has undergone several redesignations and now plays a crucial role in ensuring the security and safety of space operations
